The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a resident technical authority for assigned applications and systems providing support of AFTAC in the planning, design. development, testing, configuration, implementation, integration and maintenance of networked systems used for the transmission of information in voice, data, and/or video formats.

### Responsibilities
* Serves as principal technical authority and lead specialist with responsibility to ensure effective, economical, and advanced technical management of customer networking requirements for assigned systems and applications.
* Develops, interprets, plans and applies policy, process, procedure and strategy in the delivery of multi-discipline IT networking services required to achieve data and system integration/interoperability for assigned systems and applications.
* Provides expert technical guidance, interpretation, and implementation oversight of applicable information security policies, processes, and practices to ensure continued operational availability and integrity of systems, networks, and data.
* As principal technical authority, prepares and presents cogent and cohesive analyses and briefings advising AF Majcoms, International Partners and AFTAC management leadership on new technological developments, techniques, and enhancements.
* Defines and executes the total breadth of network operations of an activity to ensure continuous availability and accessibility of the organization's LAN/WAN.
* Reviews technical and design and network specifications to address customer requirements. Defines procedures for providing post-implementation support.

* All new DCIPS employees are required to complete a two-year DCIPS trial period.
* Position is designated critical-sensitive and incumbent must be able to obtain and retain a TOP SECRET (TS) security clearance with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI). A non-disclosure agreement must be signed.
* PCS expenses if authorized will be paid IAW JTR and Air Force Regulations

* Drug Testing: This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Testing Program. Employee must pass initial and periodic short notice drug testing.
* May be required to work irregular duty hours.
* The employee may be required to travel in military and/or commercial aircraft to perform temporary duty assignments.
* Employee may be required to undergo random CI polygraph examinations in accordance with security regulations involving material handled.

* Information Assurance Certification may be a condition of employment. This position includes information assurance (IA) work as a paramount duty requirement.
* Per DoD 8570.01-M, the incumbent of this position may be required to achieve the appropriate Information Assurance Management (IAT) Level 2 certification within 6 months of assignment of these duties.
* A waiver of this six month requirement may be granted per DoD 8570.01-M, C3.2.4.2 or C3.2.4.3. Failure to receive the proper IA certification, if deemed required, may result in removal from this position.
### Qualifications
**SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:**Your resume must reflect the quality level of experience which demonstrates the possession of the knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for successful job performance required for this position. Examples of creditable experience include: IT-related experience demonstrating each of the following four competencies: Attention to Detail, Customer Service, Oral Communication, and Problem Solving AND quality level experience which demonstrates the possession of the knowledge, skills, abilities and competencies necessary for successful job performance required for this position. Quality experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular competencies/knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position and is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Knowledge of IT principles, concept and methods on a number of highly complex computer technical specialty areas to include local and wide area networking design (LAN), management, and control; database management; applications systems design; systems software design and operations; computer hardware configuration, design, and analysis; and IT acquisition. Note: Creditable experience may include previous military experience, experience gained in the private sector, or experience gained in another government agency.
**KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs**): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Comprehensive knowledge of concepts, policies, procedures, and implementation strategies, to accomplish delivery of AFTAC business requirements,processes,products,and services, AdvancedITprinciples,concepts, methods, standards, and practices to develop and interpret policies, procedures, and strategies governing the planning and delivery of services throughout AFTAC.
2. Mastery of interrelationships of multiple IT disciplines and systems development principles and approaches to lead IT systems development projects from design to support. Advise customers of new developments and advanced technologies in information management and information delivery to customers. Mastery of distributed processing techniques, heterogeneous networked environments and internetworking techniques. Extensive knowledge of mini/microcomputer systems serving as the authority on a wide range of technologies and applications.
3. Mastery and expert knowledge of technological advancement in the area of Information System (IS) services, defining issues and problems and the use of expertise to advise on all phases of IS and on long-range information management strategies and plans.
4. As a technical authority on AFTAC support requirements, requires knowledge of advanced technology information processing concepts, an expert level of products and principles, practices to accomplish work processes through the use of modernized telecommunications and automation equipment, systems, services and facilities. Knowledge is also used to review, analyze, and resolve difficult and highly, complex information management system problems.
5. Highly specialized knowledge of data communication technology, data base information management, distributivedataprocessing,client/workserverarchitectures,web(Inter/Intranet)processing/implementation, acquisition, implementation and life-cycle management processes and modernization of office automation system/support.
6. Mastery and use of expert knowledge for installation, test, and acceptance processes of systems/applications software, and for the assurance of the proper administration of the standard security products and the associated utility special products and major subsystems.
7. Assignments require a wide variety of techniques in supporting IT initiatives associated with special and recurring studies. The work is very complex, involving the latest in IT hardware and software. Solves difficult multi-faceted automation integration problems.
