Employee will provide basic health services to students under the direct and/or indirect supervision of the Community Health Nursing Supervisor.





Following Brevard County Health Department and school district guidelines administers first aid, daily medications, and emergency medications to students and/or staff as requested and ordered by a physician. Provides allowed needed health care procedures to students as trained for by the Community Health Nursing Supervisor. These include but are not limited to intermittent clean catheterization, gastrostomy tube feeding, and monitoring blood glucose. Organize and assist with state mandated health screenings such as hearing/ vision, scoliosis, and body mass index.





Maintains clean health unit/work area and does periodic inventory of medical supplies needed. Maintains accurate records/documentation of all work performed. Establishes and maintains good working relationships with all staff members. When dealing with students, parents and staff communicates with courtesy.





Attend School Health in-services as scheduled.





Performs related work as required





Total hours in workweek 29 following Brevard County's school calendar





Incumbent may be required to work before, during and/or beyond normal work hours or days in the event of an emergency. Emergency duty required of the incumbent includes working in special needs or Red Cross shelters, or performing other emergency duties including, but not limited to, responses to or threats involving any disaster or threat of disaster, man-made or natural.
